When I entered into the market, there were more people on forums advertising their shares then giving actual information for investors. Tha bhayeko kura i try to share the most. Sabai kamawos yo bazar ma. Dherai sapana bokera chireka hunxan share bazar ma. Trial and error nei ho hajur which gives knowledge. Euta kura from experience: Failures in Nepse are the best teachers, paisa kaile ghatdeina yo bazar ma for those who hold. CHCL, EBL, SICL jos le mahango ma kineka xan uni haru lai ajja bhanxu dhukka hunus. If hold garna saknu hunna bhane bechi dinus tara recover etai hunxa aru kahi hudaina. Happy investment. |

This is one complicated question. If you have an investor mentality, then NBL, ADBL are both good.
Here are some pros of these banks 1. Government managed bank which means they will never go into liquidation. 2. Have hundreds of billions worth of property in their name. 3. Improving in performance rapidly than any other bank in the industry. 4. Old staffs are slowly retiring, new won't be a burden like the old. 5. Even the government and finance ministry is realizing that these organizations must be modernized in order to compete with the private banks. 6. Strategic partner ( Although I personally give low preference to this factor) 7. In the case of Nepal Bank all accumulated losses will be fulfilled by 2074 and will have a strong balance sheet by 2075. 8. ADBL has the highest interest income in nepalese banking sector. even with a billion provision last quarter they made a huge 1.5 billion profit. 9. Repetitively cheap right now. 10. Huge government deposits come into this bank. 11. Expanding business due to their polite nature as compared to private banks which come to kill the clients when it comes time to pay interest. 12. NBL is held huge by insurance comapnies and big investors especially the marwadi family. Now here are the cons 1. Government Bank. ( its biggest strength also it's biggest weakness) 2. Too much staff. ( Soon leaving which is a positive factor) 3. Probably high cash returns. ( NBL around 35%) and (ADBL around 25%) 4. much behind private banks in case of modernization. 5. No real charm among investors. 6. Much more provision as they do not ask for interest as aggressively as private banks. Verdict: Since I am an investor I like these banks and also am buying them both ADBL and NBL. The price may reach 700 or 300 i don't mind and am buying these. Kura sabai ko sunum, decision aafai lium |

Friends,
Nepal bank does not bring in the charm of other banks. But recently they have been making good business and making a turnaround from bad business. ADBL has strong fundamentals better than Nepal bank. However, I think there are still internal challenges since they are government owned banks at least bulk of shares belongs to government. Do you think its worth the risk to put money in both the banks at this point in time? I have been thinking about investing in them but unable to make the decision. Thank you. |
