According to Sebon Rule, the investors who apply between 1000 to 50,000 are classified as small investors whereas beyond 50,000 are considered as big investors. The total fund collected for IPO is divided in the ratio of 40:60 ratio. Hence there will always be greater probability of more allocation to small investors i.e. on the range of 1000 to 50, 000.

Furthermore, if anyone applies smaller amount e.g. 1500 or something like this then the allocation will be based on lottery since the smallest allocation possible is 10 kitta share. The smaller limit is determined by how much the IPO has oversubscribed.

Is it wiser to apply more than Rs. 15,000 or less than Rs. 15,000 for the IPOs? Please share your views. 8)
