Commodity price inflation throughout the world will dwindle our foreign reserve quick. Basically, we are fucked. Govt. should become very proactive now.

These are some steps proposed then, government has taken some steps.

Make visa free. Make grounds fees cheaper at TIA. Do away with Quarantine rules and PCR. Need tons of tourists. 2.5 million of them this year.
Curb subsidy on cooking gas. Use coupon system. One per household per month.
Stop personal vehicle imports for few months.
Tighten TIA to curb gold smuggling. Lots of remittance money used for gold smuggling.
Establish special task force to gather hundiwalas. ​We really need to break hundi gang. The government knows who are these folks.
No foreign wine/spirits/candy/juices.
Provide elevated support price for rice and wheat and corn.
Increase duty on dairy imports.
Increase duty on readymade garments, 0 duty on raw material imports for local garment/shoes factories.
Special task force to make it easier for workers to go to Japan/Korea and Israel. They pay good and want Nepalese labor.
Mortarium on new 3/4/5 star hotels in Kathmandu valley.
Gather forest ministry folks and road/hydro ministry and pass all EIAs in one sweep. Fuckers at Forest ministry is stopping developments just because they can.
Tighten income tax enforcement to include professional class, medical offices, law offices, transportation, education consultancies, restaurants, and clubs.


Personally, I just curb my consumption. As a society, we have to think collectively as to how to reduce imports in this perilous time.
