Why NHPC was unable to give any return to its general shareholders since its establishment in 1999?Because of corruption (निर्माण प्रक्रियामा खर्च गरेको देखाएर ६५ करोड रुपैयाँ भ्रष्टाचार) by THE THEN OPERATOR of NHPC (all of us know who they are), on the recommendation of अख्तियार दु्रुपयोग अनुसन्धान आयोग, ऊर्जा मन्त्रालय dismissed the lower indrawati project from NHPC and kept it in Ministry Basket Fund till last month. With the cancellation of generation license, capital amount invested in the project was provisioned (total amount around 65 crore) which was later payed from profit generated by indrawati III on installment basis by National Hydropower Company till now. Provisioned loan is almost paid back at current date (consortium lead bank was NABIL at that time). This is the reason why NHPC was unable to distribute dividend in last 4-5 years. Actually lower indrawati project was initially constructed by Sunkoshi hydropower which is a subsidiary company of national hydropower company. Later NHPC took over all the responsibility and liability of lower indrawati hydroproject. Construction contract of lower indrawati was made with Chinese company Pingxiyang Industry at that time. .................. जय होस् « Last edit by Dubosi7 on Mon Mar 15, 2021 9:56 am. »

This is what I suspected. The selloff due to margin call is an advantage for those of us with cash in hand. Banks / Brokers want their money back so they sold it since some clients did not want to come with the cash to cover the loss.
I found a few bargains and bought some yesterday. I am looking into buying more today if there are further declines.

Around 70 Billion is used as share loan till last month. Only around 5% of the investors are using 95% of the total share loan. Some people may have taken loan in other titles (such as OD, Personal loan) to invest in stock market (data of such loan is not available). Due to panic emerging in the market 1/3rd of the share loan will be settled/or defaulted. So by next year there will be adequate space for fresh loan issuance.

I have no idea Somebody ji, but If I have to guess, around 25% of total loan amount is either new borrower or renewed.
You are one of those in this forum who has connection Dubosi ji. What inside info you have?

@Rising Sun Are there any data available which says how many people have taken share loan from BFI'S? I am sure the number must be very small compare to the numbers of the people actively trading through TMS?

Base Rate below 8.5 is OK. Let's look at this way, for months, both interest on deposit and loan were low, many were giving loan at base or just above base rate- cause of competition in attracting loan .......... And what happened in NEPSE, rate of all increased a lot, some tripled, but RATE of BFIs increased just a little. Now, when hyper liquidity surplus is over, now BFIs profit will increase cause they wont be giving loan at base rate so profit will increase a lot. Meaning, its turn for BFIs price to rocket soon. But, have patience, our big players are dumb with lots of money, they need to see balance sheet or get insider info before BFIs price to increase. Just buy and hold BFIs. MNBBL Remember, IF BFIs which gave loan at base rate give loan at even 1% premium, profit from that loan will be up by 20%. During last few month, I believe almost half of the loan they gave at 0-1% premium. IF they charge 1-2% premium from now on, profit (extra) may increase by 10-20%. Remember, I said, -- BFIs big increase in profit will come when liquidity crisis is over (we say this boos in some bfis and did not see on others).-- Another big boot will come when corona crisis is over which we may see in coming 3rd or 4th qtr (we see this boost in almost all bfis).-- Huge profit boost from big business growth also going to be there. MNBBL may show it in near future qtrs.-- And from Next years qtrs, another big boost will come when BFIs start to add premium on interest on loan which they have been given at 0% premium or 1% premium. All non bfis' price increased a lot cause of low interest rate. Now BFIs turn to rocket cause of high return.

Good news for market
Base rate will further decline in Baisakh and government expenditure in 4th Q will create more liquidity.

Last closing price of NIB : 451 Last closing price of NIBPo : 392.
If you are buying for short term, NIB ve edge over Po and if you are thinking of long term probably Po better. Its possible that Po may get converted to Ordinary share after merger.

@dubosi ji My preassumtion is that NIBPO will be considered as ordinary share during the merger with HBL. Isn't it so? NIBPO is 20% cheaper..

Somebody ji,
Now go with general shares. Its not much expensive than Po. We saw significant correction of NIB in last 2 weeks. May be right time to add some scripts. NIB/HBL Bank will probably beat most of the commercial banks after merger in every aspect (capital size, reserve, deposit/loan, profit, networth etc)

मर्जका लागि हिमालयन र इन्भेष्टमेन्ट बैंक सहमतिनजिक
This news is really going to create ripple in todays market. Fundamentally those on NIB side will benefit more if merger get materialized.
All the best to both banks for taking such a herculean task.

@Rising sun "4000 around ashad end"
Seems difficult for this FY end. Next year its likely. Lots of noise now on the floor regarding drying up of liquidity. There wont be drought of liquidity in near future, but excess surplus like 3 months before wont be there. High interest rate FIXED DEPSOSIT are gradually maturing. Renew will be done at current rate which is much lower than previous rate. So this will further help to redue the BASE RATE of banks in near future. Since we have herd mentality, general public don't think rationally and most of the time they make wrong decision. Lets hear true story from "TIME"

In last 2 years period, HOTEL share holders got nothing Coming years also there is meager chance of getting anything.
Current price of Hotels considering these facts, is it justifiable ? Why investors are freezing there hard earned capital in "थारो भैसी" ? If bearish trend starts, the companies which give nothing will suffer the most.
